Bible poems

Poems drawn from God's Word

These poems are written straight from the pages of Scripture — each one retells a passage or carries a verse in rhyme. Read them slowly, over a cup of tea in the morning or quietly before bed.

Read them aloud, copy one for a friend who needs it, or simply sit with the verse behind it for a moment. New Bible poems are added regularly.

A hand writing in a journal in soft, peaceful light

God Knows, God Loves, God Cares

A poem for any day that feels heavy — the three truths this ministry was built on.

Before the morning finds your door,

Before your feet have touched the floor,

Your Father knows each thought you keep —

He watches o'er you as you sleep.

He loves you not for what you've done,

But as a father loves their own;

No failure wanders past His grace,

No night can keep you from His throne.

He cares about the smallest fear,

The silent prayer, the falling tear;

He counts the sparrows in the sky —

How much more will He hear your cry?

So bring Him every weary day,

The words you do not know to say;

He knows, He loves, He always cares —

You're never walking unawares.

"O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me... thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways."

Psalm 139:1–3 (KJV)

He Stills the Storm

After the disciples' sinking boat in Mark 4 — for anyone weathering a storm of their own.

The wind arose upon the sea,

The waves grew more than we could bear,

And still the Master slept — yet He

Was never, never unaware.

We cried aloud, "We perish!" — fear

Had drowned the memory of His power;

He rose, and with a word made clear

That even storms must know their hour.

If He can hush the waves to rest

With just the whisper of His word,

Then bring your anxious heart, distressed —

Be still, and know that He has heard.

"And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."

Mark 4:39 (KJV)

Morning Mercies

A sunrise poem from Lamentations — mercies that never run out, new every morning.

Each morning comes with mercy new,

Each evening ends with grace to spare;

The faithful love of God breaks through

Like sunlight rising on the air.

So call to mind His steadfast ways,

His compassions never, never end;

And lift to Him your song of praise —

The Great Faithfulness, your truest Friend.

"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."

Lamentations 3:22–23 (KJV)

The Lord My Shepherd

The twenty-third psalm as a quiet bedtime rhyme — for anyone who needs to know they are being led.

The Lord Himself my Shepherd is,

No good thing will He let me miss;

He makes me rest in pastures green,

Beside the quiet waters clean.

When I have wandered from His side,

He still has been my faithful guide;

He leads me in the paths of right,

For His great name and love's delight.

Though I should walk in death's dark shade,

I will not fear — I'm not dismayed;

For You are with me, ever near,

Your rod and staff, my comfort dear.

Goodness and mercy follow me

Wherever in the world I be;

And in my Father's house above

I'll dwell forever — kept in love.

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters."

Psalm 23:1–2 (KJV)
